Bridging the Gap

In2neighbourhoods is all about helping to bridge the gap between the church and local community. It's about building your capacity so as to enable you to practice the kind of faith based social action that is explicitly rooted in and shaped by the love of God.  It's about resourcing the church to think and act differently, so that when it engages the local community it not only builds collective social capital, but more importantly, makes disciples.  If in the rhythm of life we lovingly embody the work of Jesus and transfer it into the life of others, then that is when we truly begin to see vibrant, life-filled communities that reflect the Kingdom of God.
Now here is a fantastic truth: the local church and community have something in common - God has come to both in the person of Jesus Christ. He intentionally moved 'into our neighbourhoods' - the 2 neighbourhoods of church and community. And moreover, Jesus has bridged the gap that often exists between these two through his life, death, and resurrection.
In God's economy, a lot hangs on us pursuing His love for us and us loving our neighbour. It is therefore not surprising that He has called us to live and practise the ministry of reconciliation - helping people to become friends with God.
